The SIRUI Sniper 33 mm F1.2 is an APS-C autofocus prime for everyday reportage, portraits and short-form video. Its bright aperture provides flexibility with available light and shallow depth of field, while the Sony E version offers STM autofocus for moving subjects and hybrid shooting.
Available-light photography and subject separation
Its large F1.2 aperture gives photographers more freedom when light levels fall and helps create a pronounced separation between the subject and background. It also makes the lens useful for portraits, video and photographs that benefit from a softer background.
Autofocus for stills and video
An STM focus motor provides quiet autofocus, with eye-detection and tracking where supported by the camera. The Sniper series has matched styling and a 58 mm filter thread on this focal length, making it straightforward to combine several lenses in a consistent kit. This particular version has a Black Carbon finish.
SIRUI uses specialised glass and HD Nano coatings in the Sniper line to control aberrations and reduce flare. Focus breathing is also managed for video, so a focus change is less likely to draw attention by altering the composition.
